At the foot of this message is a bit of copy and paste from my 16-bit Windows
FoxMail Inbox to show you its concatenated output. FoxMail names each mailbox
as a *.box which may then be opened in an editor from File Manager by association.
I receive 250kB mail digests that are too undigestible for FoxMail but may be viewed
in Windows Write. The only problem has been when the majority were sending HTML-
format mail, which is displayed as a plain text message followed by the bulky and
tiring HTML source. (Since infection by the Kak virus, HTML-format messages are
disallowed, but quoted-printable is still an annoyance.)

The mailbox files may be split into their constituents with Winzip though, like me,
I imagine you want to avoid all the opening and closing of individual messages.
I keep a mailbox reserved for whatever messages I'm dealing with at the moment
and then delete the mail when it's finished with, remembering to compress the
mailbox (from FoxMail's menu) before moving the next batch of messages to the
mailbox to be processed.

FoxMail allows you to retrieve the headers of your waiting messages and then
mark them as Already fetched; Fetch, do not delete; Fetch, then delete; or Delete.

The 16-bit version is less than 670kB installed and works with 32-bit, though a
more specific and recent version is available. I have on occasion found (and dealt
with) some quirks with the program but received no reply from the author. The
Helpfile could be far better.

You probably know it's Freeware, so give it a try.

Jake

Here's that excerpt from it's concatenated output:

Thanks Sam Heywood and Roger Turk for replies to my quest for POP/IMAP/TELNET
access to Compuserve where all pending messages would be automatically
concatenated in a text file. I forgot to mention that some WIN32 PC's I work
on when I am on a trip have no modem so I can't use TAPCIS or any other
dial-out program. The PC's are on a network and they do access the
internet. I have loaded 32 bit Opera and it works fine, Therefore, I assume
any internet WINsocket compatible program should work. I need a WIN32 mail
client that will POP/IMAP/TELNET, etc. concatenate my compuserve mail
(including what is in lists) to a text file. How about PC-Pine, Fox-Mail,
Eudora, etc? I haven't researched any of these but if you say that any will
generate the big text file, then I will immediately study, install and try
it.

By the way, the smaller the program the better (least amount of bloat). I
only need to receive messages (can send them through another POP site). I
don't need multiple users, multiple folders or eye candy. But I'll take what
ever will concatenate all pending messages to a text file.

Thanks again, Barry.
