Sam .....you can play with AOL messenger, if you go to 

    http://www.netscape.net/ 

and set up a My Netscape account...I have
not used it, because I don't want to be bothered, but it will work with
any of the big-brows...I go with either IE3 or NC408....It is a 
proprietary thing, just like Yahoo Instant Messenger....IMO they are
junk designed to straitjacket people into their respective
sites/services....you cannot use them outside AOL/Netscapt or Yahoo..,
