Hi Sam, Glenn;

At the risk of offending some Arachne users, I have to comment on this.

Glenn is only partly right. It's not just a matter of being too lazy. In some
cases it's also a matter of being too dumb. I've searched for another word to
use here but can't find one.

Windows user are Windows users because either they can't remember simple
things like DIR or DIR | MORE or CD..\WHATEVER and if they could, they
would still have no idea what to do when they got there *OR* they simply
started using the operating system that came with the computer they bought
because they had no idea there was another way *OR* in a very few cases they
know better but have found it to be the easiest way to do the job at hand.

Could I have used "uninformed" instead of "dumb" ? No, it doesn't seem to
work that way with the seemingly otherwise bright people that I know who
fit perfectly the description in the last paragraph.

Maybe conceptually challenged is better.

Sam, that also fully explains why they don't cut the crap.
Mostly they don't know it is there and if they did, they wouldn't know how
to remove it.
And it certainly wouldn't occur to them that something their software does
by default is less than ideal.
