Now you're getting the idea.<g>
When in Arachne, we are not useing the codepage which is used while at
the DOS command prompt. We are useing the particular character set which
we've chosen in our "local settings".
If you and I have the same local settings....
(ISO-8859-1 for HTML, ISO-8859-1 for outgoing eMail)
Then every message which you and I send and recieve between each other
will be viewed exactly the same on both of our screens.
But, if I change my settings to ISO-8859-2 for HTML then......
Messages you sent using ISO-8859-1 for outgoing eMail will not be viewed
correctly on my end. (some characters will... some won't)
Conversely, if we use US-ASCII for outgoing eMails....
They won't display correctly in Arachne but will display correctly at
the DOS prompt. (type 62798730.cnm)

Shell-out to DOS and view this .cnm with the "type" command or with
your favorite text viewer/editor.
If your are not using a codepage (or text viewer/editor), which is the
same as the character set that Arachne is using to view HTML.....
You will not see the same thing between the above <>s as you are seeing
right now.
The same applies even if you're not using Arachne right now.
(IE and NS do not display the same as the DOS "type" command unless you
have set them to use the same charcter set as the codepage which is
being used for DOS)
This also applies to every program ever written which uses something
other than the DOS codepage for viewing files.
Xtree-pro uses the DOS codepage.
So, "type filename" and "v" while in XTPRO look the same.
So does edit.com, list.com, view.exe, viewer.exe, etc...etc...etc....

I'll go do it and be right back with the answer.
