Sure. But bear in mind that most nntp servers are not open. I think
most ISP's will only accept a connection to their newsserver from
their own network. Some use user/password authentification (authinfo)
to restrict access. Even servers that are open for reading may not
allow posting. In this case a mail2news gateway can be used for
posting. Wide open servers that allow posting can be a source of
Usenet spam and usually don't stay open for long. There are also
specialized newsservers that do not export their newsgroups.
