My first ISP mailed me some of what I needed & I had a hellish time
getting the rest of the info ... had to make a personal visit to techie!
Present ISP gave me whatever data I asked for, right over the phone for
setup. They said they couldn't help with DOS, but I could run with it
if I liked. I have been on, and they know it is with DOS, for over a
year now -- and their home page now clearly states that DOS users are
welcome, but they can't support them. However, they also know they have
my permission to refer any DOS users that might contact them.
If Arachne ever reaches the stage where I dare to show it to one of the
co-owners and head techie, he said he'd give it a whirl and if it seemed
like a good thing they would add a link to Arachne from their home page.
I'd love for more people in town to realize those old cheap computers
that end up at Goodwill *can* be internet machines. With the city now
providing ISP access for as low as $10 a month [limited hours, but ...]
many more people can have internet access than ever if IF *I*F* a *true*
stable release of Arachne becomes available.
