Hold on... I have never connected with Arachne without seeing gibberish on
the terminal at some point. Until recently, it went like this:
- modem initialises and dials
- asks for user id and waits, then password and waits. I login.
- As soon as I log in, there's *gibberish* first character is a { (or is
it a }).
- I press F7 key to get back to Arachne.
A couple of months ago my ISP changed its system. I've had trouble logging
in since. It goes like this:
- modem initialises and dials
- no user id or password, no waiting
- *gibberish* on the terminal
- I press F7 key to get back to Arachne
- I usually get the Internet connection but usuallly no mail access.
I'd always thought it was an authentication problem, probably at my ISP.
I was looking at other ISPs instead. Is that a speed problem then?
