That _is_ the way it's supposed to be.
Your password does not get echoed to the screen. This is for security
purposes. If somone is watching you type your password, they wont be
able to see it on your screen.
Just type your password and press enter.
Wait for those uninteligable characters (a bunch of {{s and }}s), to appear
and press F7
