Hi Bernie;
Michael has suggested starting Arachne with: Arachne -c (offline). I tried
this here and it didn't work. It seems Arachne re-writes .pck on exit to
REMOVE the fullscreen flag bit so that when it re-starts, it always comes
on with title and status lines - at least.
The fix is to generate, or copy over, a new.pck before startup.
Exit Arachne from the setup condition and screen of your choice.
With debug, edit the byte at :0110 by adding 04H to it. i.e., If it was 02H
change it to 06H. Save the new .pck (W command). Rename it to Arachne.sav.
Now, every time you start, your batch file should copy this to Arachne.pck.
Be warned that now you will NOT be able to change your video mode and make
it stick because you will always be overwriting that info on re-start. :((

Once you are running, the fullscreen mode sticks in VGA, but not in EGA or,
I guess CGA. I think this was just an oversight and will be fixed soon.

I would recommend 256k max cache, 1.5Mb ramdisk and 256k XMS forArachne.
Put Command.com, \ARACHNE, \ARACHNE\SYSTEM, \ARACHNE\SYSTEM\SUBDIRS + \TEMP
on the ramdisk. Delete any files you will not be using in these directories.
Make sure you have at least 256k free for \TEMP.

Right. It works best in VGA 640x480x16. It also works in 640x480x256 BUT
it is MUCH slower. Also works in EGA. Doesn't work for me at all in VESA.
