I didn't see the part about hitting question mark hot key. Dumb me.
I can now verify that crap writes to screen when in VESA mode and hit
question mark hot key.
I can also verify that hitting F5 or hot key * will clear the crap, and
then you can go back to preferred mode. <G>
I used to see a lot of that crap ... still get occasional lines drawn
through icons on top, so glad to learn the trick.
