At least that's what it almost feels like.

Earlier today, when I ended up having to abort the ftp because I
realized I didn't have room on my HDD, I guess the server was rather
busy. Took about 1/2 hour for ~16Mbytes

Well, at this time of night I guess no one much was using the server.
Oh, I did see an occasional slowdown, and a couple of times the numbers
actually stopped rolling over for a split second.

But the file was coming down so fast I could barely tear myself away
from the screen ... sometimes the bottom line was blurred with the
writes coming so quickly one after the other! I'd figured out how to
use the "stop watch" part of my $5 digital watch, so I wanted to make
certain I didn't miss the end and not push the stop button...

metalab.unc.edu FTP server was flying!

I downloaded a simple to install in DOS version of Slackware called
zipslack [because it will fit on a zip disk].

Size: 34,537,210 bytes
Time: 26 minutes 12 seconds, give or take a second or two.

I can remember when a simple DOS game would take that long!

I think I'm gonna *like* this cable modem stuff. <G>

WHOOOOPIE!! YAHOOOOO!! YEAH......
