Dear list:
I had an interesting problem with a 33.6K Patrol modem in that it would
not work at all if I set the speed in the setup wizard to 38Kb
By editing the .cfg file down to a speed of 24Kb the whole system logs
in at 28.8Kb and works flawlessly.
I think my problem was actually the speed of the com port which was not
a 16550 UART, but some old interface card that floated into this 486
from somewhere.
In the interests of experiment I set the .cfg to 2.4Kb and plugged in a
prehistoric "Bit Blitzer" (sic) which ran at four speeds up to 2.4Kb.
It actually logged in and got mail quite functinally, if slowly!
Bye
Kali
