As Paul Harvey would say, "Just what, not why." There are 2 problems that I've had recently with Arachne that seem to have cleared themselves up. One is the index of inbound messages. I reported that with the three most recent release: 1.61, 1.60 src, and 1.60 beta 2, I sometimes could and sometimes could not see the new mail (CNM). I did not have the problem with 1.60 beta 1 and earlier. My ARACHNETEMP variable formerly pointed to drive E, which is a ram disk. D is normally the second partition on the hard disk, but sometimes I use "subst" to point it to the ram disk also. Don't know if there's any connection, but maybe Arachne was getting confused by the substitution? Anyway, since I changed the ARACHNETEMP to C:\TEMP, I have not had the problem. The other problem concerned frequent thrashing of the hard disk in some recent versions of Arachne that had not occurred in older versions. (Don't remember exactly which one this started with, but it was one of the 1.60's.) I changed the NWCACHE parameters from /flush=on to /flush=off . That problem now has gone away also. -- ...This msg brought to you by NEIL PARKS Beachwood, Ohio mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.en.com/users/neparks/
