I'm saddened.  I can recall when I first discovered PKZIP.

I didn't like the coverage, even though it may have been true.  Makes
you wonder if maybe his dreams about computer software were just one
more victim to Microsoft.  Without DOS ... back to some form of "expand"
from M$?

Phil Katz is on my "PC Heroes List" along with Peter Norton and a couple
of other people whose names no one here would recognize.

All is not lost regarding PKZIP.  Infozip is alive and well as far as I know,
with versions for a wide variety of OSes, plus freely available source code that
can be compiled for other OSes.
