I get normally about 200 KB/min at 56 K, so your time estimate looks more like
56 K than broadband.
Bear in mind that base64 encoding multiplies the file size by 4/3, since 8 bits
are encoded into 6, therefore 3 bytes straight become 4 bytes in base64 or
uuencode. So is 2.9 MB the size of the e-mail as sent, or of the original file?
I don't even have a sound card on my old computer, Cx486DX2-66, so I can't do
anything with WAV files: one thing I would remedy with a new computer.
