I know the feeling, and have only had a PC with a sound card for about a month.
All is not lost for you though: there are PC-speaker drivers for DOS and Win3.1x,
and parallel port devices if you are persistent and want to spend money.

Trouble is it's not really worth spending any appreciable money on an old
computer unless it's for something that can be carried over to a new computer.
I am also pinched for hard disk space, 1.6 GB combined in two hard disks, and my
CPU (Cx486DX2-66) and 20 MB RAM are not really enough for the big stuff.
