Faster? Maybe ...

But I say it shouldn't be necessary.
As to losing the carefully put together handmade changes to mime.cfg,
that wouldn't happen if the existing mime.cfg were backed up before any
changes were made to it by apm.
I did get the mess cleaned up.
And you mention that Arachne shouldn't *have* to search for an APM if
one is installed. There's a difference, apparently, between shouldn't
and does because of problems.
1.61 has been giving me little nagging problems ever since installation,
99.9% of which I never had before ... little nagging BS type things:
*1. An inability to recognize a zip file when downloaded, until after I
go back from the *text*display* of the downloaded file and then return
to it; when I return then Arachne asks me if I want to save it.
*2. If I'm on a page and decide to do something like compose mail based
upon something I see, when I finish with the mail the "compose" screen
is still there. [Same with saving bmp files ... finish save and stare at
'save' screen.]
*3. If I'm on a page and jump [rather than link] to another location,
when I return BACK to original page I often end up with a page for a gif
or image for the page I'm trying to get back to. Since I'm having to
use the arrows, it's not a matter of 'right click on graphic' causing
this.
*4. ESC equals Go Back is very unreliable. Sometimes even using the
arrows doesn't work, but if you finally get to the page it was in cache
the whole time.
** and then there is the on-going problem with History not being
history. I had problems with one web site ... lockups. I had reached
it from a search on advanced hotbot. But each time after reboot when I
went to history list nothing about the problem page was there, nor about
the hotbot search that took me there. I had to start out from scratch
each time ... and that sux.
