Just today I was talking to a neighbor, and talk got around to "the kids
of today." Having raised a few, been a teacher, been a counselor, I
know the problem.

Too few people of *any* age today can see a future worth living. If I
could tell each person in the world one thing, and one thing only it
would be: You are unique, someone who has never been before and will
never be again. For that alone you have value, but more than that you
have the ability to teach me at least one thing which will make my life
a better one. And anyone who is capable of that is capable of much more.

And each life which even briefly touches on mine, and then is lost,
makes my world and my life a bit emptier while filling it with questions
that can no longer be answered.

If I had a magic wand I would wave it -- if I knew what I needed to wish
for.
