Yes, the ctmouse function comport (I think) doesn't check if the mouse is
actually there. I can't remember if it did this earlier but the code sure
indicates this (first try com1 then com2 unless the user has specified
com-port).

If you use ctmouse/2 it will use com2 - /3 for com3 and /4 for com4 -
ctmouse/? for help on other options (force logitech mode for instance so
you can use all three buttons - probably interesting for Arachne users that
like the mouse).

It isn't unflexible - however someone (not me) have screwed up the
autodetect and that's not good.
