Not all cable modems are like this .. there are also some that require
special proprietary cards.
But most connect to normal LAN Cards ... (thanks god !)

Usually you only need a driver (packetdriver).
Most DOS Internet programs have the TCP/IP Stack built into the executable.
(WATTCP library)
