Not a bug report, but a resolution :-))
As many of you know, I have had many problems with A162's video
performance. As a result of a video hardware DOWNGRADE, ALL of these
issues have been resolved.
 The symptoms involved page overlays, poor JPG performance, and numerous
other minor bugs. It was suggested to me that these, taken together,
sounded like problems with XMS; perhaps bad or borderline memory
modules.
 At the time I was using a UMC um85c408af 1 MB video card. As A162 does
not recognize this hardware, and my monitor is not VESA compatible,
I was forced to use her "256k,16 colors" setting. (Choosing 256 colors
on the right side of setup had no effect.)
 Today this card was replaced with an Oak Technology 512k card, which
A162 recognized. I selected "Oak / 512k,256 colors". Configuration
was set as follows: XMS- 1MB all, 256k for one; Virtual Screens- large;
Pg Up/Dn- smooth; Mode- auto; Realtime- enabled.
 Within the XMS settings area is a note which reads:
  "Animated GIFs require !! XMS memory manager and 256 or Hi-Color mode.!!"
It would appear that the note doesn't tell the half of it! While it
seems strange that the browser's effective use of XMS could depend upon
what color mode is selected, it also seems to be true.

 As to Virtual Screens and scrolling: Its Wonderful! Use it! Before,
when bringing up "PPP_INIT.HTM", A162 would take 5 secs. to draw the
fractal. Now, it "Generates Virtual Frame" for 3 secs., and draws it in
1 sec.! Mouse clicking on the scrollbar causes a smooth, fast slide;
while Pg Up/Dn buttons jump one screen, as before. Not as smooth as IE3,
but getting there ;-)
PS: 30 sec. webpage re-loads from cache don't bother me at all <g>
