Dear experts:
Although I have dabbled a bit with LINUX, I'm still a neophyte so
please bear with me. I'm running RH6.2 (custom installation with
SVGAlib 1.4 added later per RPM).
I managed to untar AR1.64b, run the install script (with ./install),
was informed that I had the required libraries, located AR in
/opt/arachne164 directory, was told that I could run AR as root now.
Did that and obtained a blank (black) screen. Hitting ESC produced
about 5 more-or-less box-like things of squiggly red dashes in the
top 1/4 of the screen, the rest being ill defined vertical blue and
green stripes. Not knowing what to do, I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL (not
recommended in Linux) and the whole mess proceeded to slowly move
vertically for about 1/2 minute before things rebooted.
But upon rebooting, there was no prolonged "file check forced" that
I would have expected upon aborting the way I did.
So, does anyone have a clue as to where I might have gone astray?
Any help would be much appreciated.
