Hi folks,

this problem reminds me of trouble I had with an old Seagate HD some
time ago. I assembled a computer to give it to a friend as a
"typewriter" with New Deal Office installed on it. Every thing seemed to
be fine but later the friend reported to me damaged documents which
crashed NDO. There were also many lost clusters on the drive. I checked
the HD many times with NDD and Calibrate but there were no errors. But
later I found that the errors appeared only if the computer was running
more than half an hour. This led me to a defective fan in the power
supply unit. I fixed this by adding an "external" fan and NDO returned
to normal behavior. Since both NDO and Arachne use the HD heavily
thermal problems could be the reason for not writing correctly to Your
disk (the HD mentioned above is now in computer heaven after a head
crash). Don't laugh at me, but check the temperature in Your computer
and have look at the fan!
