Hi Bastiaan, Pete, others with an interest.
Pete wanted to make the point that VALIGN works in tables as long as
the HEIGHT attribute isn't used. (I'm not shouting, just using capitals
for differentiation.)
The attached example, valign.htm, should make things clear for the
results when HEIGHT isn't used, but VALIGN is required e.g for a caption
alongside an image.
I'm really pleased HEIGHT is now recognized, and look forward to VALIGN
being fixed for when it is used in the same tag.
Wishing I had some of the talents of "CrazyHen" (seek and you will find),
I remain, pluckily and cluckily yours,
Jake

Thanks to Clarence for suggesting I change my Config.sys
SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM statement to include e:/512
where QEMM had set the value to 205.

Title: Arachne1.64 Valign Test Page
|
valign="top"
|
valign="middle"
|
valign="bottom"
|
no "valign"
|
This page is to demonstrate the effect of "valign" (vertical alignment)
in table data cells of no specified height. The results are moderately
good, with the expected result when HTML fonts are scaled at -2.
An earlier example showed that Arachne 1.64 recognizes the height
attribute, but then defaults to valign="top".
