Hi All! I tested the load times for the page that Clarence mentioned: http://slashdot.org/interviews/00/06/21/1217242.htm With no caching software installed on this 486SX40, and the entire A164 directory loaded into RAMdisk, load times are (slightly variable): (CONNECT 38400/V90/LAPM/V42B/TX=24000/RX=52000) D/L: 2:42 re-load: 1:56 (HD) Running "c:\programs\speedchk\speedchk.bat" took 90-122 secs. (RD) Running "d:\sp\speedchk.bat" always took 10 secs. After installing "pc-cache.com" v with default configuration (HD) Run-time dropped to ~70 secs (RD) ~10 secs Clarence-- *How* did you get your 33MHz's RD to run this test in 6 secs?? As to loading the link, I didn't test this because pc-cache leaves too little free conv memory; I think the results would be skewed. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Pete Randolph Morristown Corners, Vermont ----------------------------------------------------------------- -- Arachne V1.64, NON-COMMERCIAL copy, http://arachne.cz/
