You type in an incomplete filename, press a button (usually tab) and the
shell tries to fill in what you may have meant.
eg there is command.com in the dir you are in.
You type co<TAB> and the shell says command.com
Same is true for dirnames
Eg c:\w<TAB>sys<TAB>
could lead to c:\windows\system\
