The weird characters are PPP. You have to press F7 or Alt+P (like in
Windows 95 dialer) to exit terminal mode and enter PPP !!! Arachne shows
even helpline saying this: Press F7 to get to PPP mode...
This should be definitely FAQ No.1 :-(
I am sending CC: of this to Arache mailing list. Maybe Arachne users will
help me to compile brand new FAQ file, which would contain really only
up-to date information about configuring DOS and Linux versions...
