On Sat., 22 Jul 2000, Samuel W. Heywood wrote and sent a copy of
his Arachne.cfg file for connecting to DialFree.net. Thanks, Sam.
But a question: You listed NameServer 204.178.185.5 and
AltNameServer 204.178.185.105. Are these the DNS numbers provided
when you signed up for DialFree, or are they others that also
work?
The reason I ask is that I nosed around at DialFree.net to see if
I could determine how hard it might be to get connected (if I
were to sign up), and I found different DNS numbers under some
heading about what Macintosh and Linux might need. What I found
was primary DNS 206.15.168.65 and secondary DNS 206.15.168.70.
Personally, I'm still wrestling with whether to sign up with
DialFree.net (though it looks like they have a local access
number for me, whereas the now-defunct FreeWWWeb didn't)--as I
really don't like giving them my credit card number.
Another thing seems strange to me: The listed DialFree local
access telephone number is the idential same local access number
for the Bluelight free ISP service (which requires Win 95/98 or
such. Any idea how that works with the same
phone number?
