Home also has that kind of counter, which won't advance
when too many visitor accessing the page simultaneously.
Instead, you'll got a polite message like this:
"This account has too many processes running,
try again later"
I got the current text counter script from:

It's rather out of date, and has a little *NIX Y2K bug,
which will show year 2000 as 19100 ;-)

Not only search engines, you also got some spambots there.
BTW, where the server log stored? Or you just added the
env data into a homemade log each time your counter get
invoked?
