Fighting fire with fire would not work in this case. One of the main
problems with spam is that it produces a lot of congestion and
unnecessary traffic on the mail servers of ISPs world-wide. Sometimes
you can't even log on to your mail servers because they are already
choked up with spamming attacks. Fighting the spammers by sending them
return fire would only result in clogging up the already overloaded mail
servers even more. Resorting to such a tactic would produce a victory
only for the spammers. Another point to consider is that if we start
taking the matter into our own hands, we might target innocent persons
by mistake. [As we all know, this is the inherent drawback of even the
best-intentioned vigilante movements.] Sometimes the spammers will crack
into a good and decent net citizen's email account and use his email
account as a base from which to spew their garbage. There are ways to
deal with the problem. The action should be taken by the legal
authorities and other experts working under their supervision. They
would be capable of employing the most appropriate measures. Our
political leaders ought to be doing something about the problem, so as to
make the world a safer place for the net citizens. Our leaders would get
lots of votes this way and they would win lots of public support. You
all should write to them and let them know how you feel about the matter.
Also be sure to tell them that you are not going to forget to vote. I'm
sure they will listen.

All the best,
