Well, as far as ping goes, you can get one that works with Arachne

NOTE: its a very simple program. Just typing "ping" without any
parameter will not get you a help screen, but instead will start
pinging some unknown address.
Also, it wouldnt stop pinging unless you stop it yourself!
You have to use CTRL+C to stop it.
