You're lucky you have 36meg RAM. KDE's performance is
related to how much memory it has to play with. KDE is
*very* sluggish on 16meg RAM.

Same for icewm. Funny thing, although I regularly switch
back and forth between desktops 1 and 2, I've never used
desktops 3 and 4. Hmmm ...must be the law of diminishing
returns.
