It's a convenience method.
You have 2 choices ...
repartition, and install QNX in a different partition.
Do *not* repartition, and use a virtual disk (file) instead.
It needs the space to work with !

You can install it in its own partition

It's only a convenience for you.
You can give QNX its own partition without repartitioning.
If you want to give QNX a 150 MB partition, you can omit this step, and
give it a 150 MB file instead !!!
(base system needs 55 MB, but there are many additional packages available)
