I had this happen a few weeks ago when the digest from a mailing list
to which I'm subscribed was the culprit. I remembered back even further
to someone explaining how one could use something called Telnet for
clearing the blockage. No doubt our resident experts will fill you in on
this much better than I, but, in a nutshell, it required getting
TELNET.APM downloaded from the Arachne site, installing it, running
aforementioned Telnet, which gives a list of every message waiting on
the server for you. You can then issue a command to delete the first
message (the one causing the block) and then the remainder behind it
should download normally using the conventional mail programme.

I'm a simple lad and I had to write down a step-by-step procedure
for this Telnet thing. I won't bore everyone here with it but if it
would help, let me know and I'll send it to you. The HUGE advantage of
it is that you don't need to use 'doze!!!

   Hope this helps!

      Ron.
