Looks like I better take this here now "out in the open" ;-)
Michael I have a suggestion for when this can be done (perhaps). As you may
remember between January and May next year I'm supposed to work on a
project of my own (or in a group of two as max AFAIK), either with
something I come up with myself or at a company, for my studies half-time
(20 hours/week) for 20 weeks.
Now the suggestion is the following: I'll make a DJGPP+Allegro port of
core.exe (the main Arachne executable).
There are two problems, the first being if this is enough work for the
university to accept (we can always throw something else in in that case),
the other is that I might find something more interesting to do (eg. doing
something at a company that are able and might be interested in hiring me -
this is my last year in university after all).
I suggest we take this off-list now...
Oh, yeah there's also another reason to wait with a DJGPP+Allegro port -
Allegro 4 is supposed to be the same for DOS and Windows (no need to use
WinAllegro). And before that is out I think it's premature to work on it.
You'll not only get a 32-bit version but also most of a Windows version if
you wait.
