it likes your EMM but it does not like the NOVCPI option, because it

why do you need novcpi ??
You could also add i=b000-b7ff (if you have color graphics)
you can also try highscan (some BIOSes don't like this ...)

PS: I just tried Linux Arachne again ... svgalib version works great ...
but the GGI version segfaults immediately ...
