you misunderstood me ...
The majority of people does not use Win 3.1 (and there is no trend that
the number of win 3.1 users will rise) ...
they use win95/98 or linux (on PC platform ... naturally also other OSes
like the BSD family, but these are small minorities)
People using Win95 do NOT want to exit it, only to browse the web ...
they want to share the connection, want to have ICQ running while they
download from an FTP site, and play quake or whatever ....
There has been a test release from Michael which made it possible that
Arachne can be used in this environment, and that she would coexist with
other programs by using winsock. (stub32 ???)
What I do not understand is that this tool is not longer downloadable.
It would make it possible, that some people who don't like to learn, get
Arachne to know, and than possibly migrate to Linux Arachne ...
HS> Arachne may well run in this kind of dos session.
sure ... but this is too much of a burdon only to surf the net for the
average user ...
and than he is again confronted with DOS incapabilities ...
(memory barrier, no kernel support for multitasking, no kernel support for
networking, ............)
