Well, Clarence has really done it this time with his web site - Arachne
running within arachne ! ***Well done, dude! ***
I'd never have thought of doing that - and what a great training aid -
everybody interested gets to preview arachne in another browser before
taking the plunge! So fair play Clarence, I look forward to the anticipated
updates to make it look n feel even more 'true to life' (or whatever passes
for life for a program <g> )
Whatever the pro's and cons of DOS, we all know that in countries that are
'less developed' (using that ol western colonial phraseology) the use
f -to-our-eyes- old technology, can be a great enabler.
Arachne I reckon is an important part of that enabling, since almost all
vendors now have system requirements for their browsers that can only be
considered astronomical. A html4.0 browser with email, ftp and integrated
desktop interface running happily on machines considered garbage (in the UK
at least), can be a portal to the delights (and crappy bits) of
cyberspace - more power to those who are making the effort to extend the
natural lifespan of PCs beyond that desired by the consumer PC industry.
So, nice one, Michael, Clarence, and others doing the development of
Arachne - in the words of star trek - live long and prosper!
