I have been using Arachne since 1997 with etherppp, Klos, and dospppd.
I found it confusing to use Arachne to load the packet driver back
then and still do, although the changes in V1.67 should help. I'm still
using V1.66 and was not aware that these changes had actually been made
when I posted my previous comments.

Using BOOTP with epppd shouldn't have anything to do with your ISP.
The packet driver gets the IP address, gateway, netmask, and mru over
PPP (and puts them in IP-UP.BAT) and gets the DNS server(s) from
pppdrc.cfg.
BOOTP is not used by epppd to get these values. However, it is able
to intercept BOOTP requests from applications (Arachne) and supply
the correct values to the applications.
I use wattcp.cfg with all my Wattcp applications, including Arachne.
If I don't use BOOTP, I have DNS server(s) in wattcp.cfg before
loading epppd, and write the other values after loading epppd, using
IP-UP.BAT. If I do use BOOTP, I have DNS server(s) in pppdrc.cfg and
"myip=bootp" in wattcp.cfg before loading epppd, and don't have to do
anything after loading epppd. It doesn't really matter which way I do
it.
One thing that confuses me about Arachne, is why it uses PPP.LOG at
all with dospppd, when IP address is in IP-UP.BAT.
