Skin is like a "themes" in windows 95. The idea is that you can change
the way the program looks like and its "appearence style" by adding a new
"skin", that change the way it look.
For example, in theory you can find a skin that change Netscape 6
from its normal color to orange, and add little star trek ships on
the buttons, and make the scroll bar look like a long door handle.
(dont try to find it. Its just an theortic example.)
Basicly I think that it was Winamp that got this thing to be popular.
Still, an intresting gimik.
And re: the original question, no idea whats the diffrence as well..
other then the "serious icons", that is.
