Mike,
When I used Arachne on freeserve, I can confirm these are the correct
DNS numbers.
The other possible problem is that arachne will NOT connect using a
Winmodem, it must be able to see and use a real modem.
The phone number you must use is 0845 079669, no other freeserve
number will connect. AND when fs is extremely busy, arachne will find
itself timed out by the server.
I changed my machine, and the current computer only has a winmodem,
so I can't at this time confirm all is still working for you, but I
have to say also there was some talk of version number of the browser
being important.
There was a discussion on the list at the time about this, some ISP's
were not recognisisng Arachne as a valid browser because it had a
version number of 1.64 rather than the current IE and Netscape
versions of 4.6 upwards.
Hope this helps, when I had it running I used it exclusively and
found it was excellent on most pages, the odd time I had a problem
was with caching of pages, but this was minor.
Hope this helps
