I switched my XT Arachne box to IBM PCDOS 3.3 before upgrading to
1.66 back in the summer. I had to repartition my 40 meg Seagate
ST251 to the max 32 meg size it supports. With the smaller footprint
of PCDOS 3.3, QRAM memory manager, and the maximum memory CORE.EXE
that was compiled for v1.66 I got significantly more free memory.
Still, it was not enough to help much with the painfully slow screen
draws with a VGA card. ;) HTH.
