I've seen a fair share of ads for cable TV descramblers and chain-letter pyramid
schemes. One newsgroup, alt.free.newsservers, has been plagued by junk messages
featuring obscenities but not advertising anything.
There is a Net-Tamer newsgroup, alt.comp.shareware.nettamer, but Net-Tamer is
better suited for newsgroups than is Arachne, and better suited for email too,
from what others here say.
Newsgroups are easier to browse, quicker to get in and out of, and you get a
second chance if you mess up due to buggy client software or user error.
By the way, I like Michael's idea of [EMAIL PROTECTED]
