Groupe,

So much goes on that I sometimes lose track of stuff or don't remember
what's been said. So pardon me for asking, but it has me confused.

* In 1.69 the temp files for Arachne are stored in their very own
Arachne.tmp directory, which is -- if TEMP has been SET -- nested inside
whichever directory TEMP is set to.

* This was done, IIRC, so that a "delete *.*" would never again be able
to trash the entire c:\DOS directory, when the Arachne temp files were
cleaned up upon exit.

So, now comes the big question: Why isn't the arachne.tmp directory
deleted, or the files cleaned completely out, when one exits Arachne
correctly?

There are a few files supposed to be deleted, saved, whatever in reading
ARACHNE.BAT, but I can't see anywhere that an attempt was made to clear
the entire accumulation of files in the directory.

And if only certain files were to be deleted while the rest hung around
forever, why was there ever any need to set up a dedicated directory in
the first place?

Yes -- I can set up the batch file, which I have call Arachne.bat, to do
the cleanup. But that's not the question. The question remains: If
Arachne used to do such a good job of cleaning up after itself, that it
could eat every file in C:\DOS if temp were set there, why doesn't it
clean up after itself worth a damn now that things have been "fixed" ??

l.d.
