IIRC, although I am a dedicated WP5.1 user, WordPerfect never made their
programs completely backward compatible, but provided "convert" programs that
would try to convert macros, files, etc., to the current version. I would be
very hesitant to use a macro editor that came with WP4.2 to write macros for
WP5.1.

so far I used WP 5.1 and the PE / ME (program editor / macro editor) that
came with WP4.2 for this, especially because their macros can search and
replace <CR LF> in one operation (That's also quite handy when you want to
have your e-mail read by Soundblaster read.exe, a good macro for this
purpose is available on request...)
