>Greetings all-
Well I back on the list. I had postponed it for a while during the
Christmas Holiday and them some...Hope all had a great Xmas. I sure
did. Had a slight problem with a hard drive on the HP Pavilion.
Instead a replacing it, they sent a new PC. I had been running Arachne
1.67 on the laptop with my 28.8 ext. modem. A few days ago I decided to
try the ext. modem with the mainframe. Everything went smoothly. Then
I decided to set up Nettamer and Arachne 1.69. All is beautiful. It is
amazing how well it works on the mainframe comparing it to the laptop.
(an older Toshiba Sat.110) I did notice though some problems with error
messages and lock ups. So I decided to install Arachne 1.68. Not sure,
but I think things weren't as smooth as I thought. It could be op.
error, but I decided to go to version 1.66. Have heard lotsa positive
feedback. Well it does seem to run nice. I haven't deleted the other
versions, since I have not really put all three to a real test. But
anyway, its still a great mode!
Gotta a few questions, one I know is answered in the archives because I
had asked about Bat.files before and saw the reply the other day, just
need to dig it up. But one question that puzzles me is about this
Arachne program. It is exactly what? I know it is a browser but is it
also an operating system? How does it compare to Lynux? I see that it
must not be the same since there are downloads of Arachne for Lynux
users. But from what friends of mine say it sort of sounds like they
share some of the same things.
All the best in 2001--
Neil
