Bart,
Qedit allows you to enter ASCII code in a search string, and replace it
with anything you'd like ... including absolutely nothing. Qedit also
allows you to write your own permanent or temporary macros.
It has a different name now -- someone on the list knows what it is --
and the last time I checked, it was available for trial download [sorry,
I can't be more precise because I lost much of my hotlist] on the web.
IIRC, you would want to try the 'lite' version -- it does everything
necessary.
