Thomas and list,

Michael seems to be busy, with the real problems.
So it is up to you to create your own zip files:

1. Copy Arachne download file to hard disk or RAM disk

2. Create temporary directory

   md \tmpinst

3. Install Arachne with archn???.exe into temporary directory

   - confirm the start of the installation
   - change the proposed directory to \TMPINST
   - enter memory mode (press 0, 1 or 2)
   - enter screen mode (press 0, 1 or 2)
   - terminate the installing procedure with ESC

4. Pack files into \arachne.zip

   PKZIP \ARACHNE.ZIP \TMPINST\*.* -rp

5. Clean up

   deltree \tmpinst
   rd \tmpinst

I tried to write a batch file that does everything with one command.
Unfortunately Arachne download files does not work with this:

  echo yn\tmpinst|ARCHNXXX.EXE

You do not need environment variables for everything. The problem is
that the configuration and path information for the add-ons is in more
than one file.

   - arachne.cfg
   - mime.cfg
   - batchfiles *.ook (which are not in the download package)
   - files *.dgi (which are not in the download packgage)

But if you keep these files, you can be quite sure that your APMs
need not to be reinstalled. If you do not use the default fonts you
should keep also the files in \SYSTEM directory.
