The rubbish being written into the middle of ARACHNE.CFG has been
happening since at least V1.66, but, try as I might, I simply cannot get
it to do it in a predictable way. It almost appears that it's more
likely to do it on a 'fresh' copy of ARACHNE.CFG, i.e., when the
installation is new. I usually get 4 Ctrl-A characters followed by the
first (comment) line of the original ARACHNE.CFG and that little lot
usually appears just after the line 'ESC goes back' in the [misc]
section of the file. Sometimes, a few lines (comment lines) near the
top of the file disappear instead.
Because of this, I've developed a habit of copying
ARACHNE.CFG to another file as backup so that I can always go back to
what I had if the rubbish lines appear. I have a suspicion that it
happens (if it's going to) after setting up via the 'options' page.
Sorry I can't be more specific just yet. I'll keep on trying different
things until I discover a pattern.
All the best,
Ron.
