Hello Arachnids:

Under options, local settings, there is a box you may check to enable
the caching of local objects. The default setting is on. I disabled
this bug by unchecking it and now my version 1.70 is a lot more stable
than it ever was before. The recommendation is for this bug to be
enabled, but allowing it to be enabled causes all kinds of problems.
When enabled I would frequently get the "Arachne Load Error" page when
selecting a link for a mail message in one of my folders. If the
message opened I would read it and then I would want to proceed to the
next message or go back to a previous message. Regardless of whether
I would click on the back (<<) button or the forward (>>) button located
to the left and right, respectively, of the INDEX button, I would
frequently get the old "Arachne Load Error" message. The same thing would
happen also if I clicked on the INDEX button. Has anyone else suffered
with this problem? Try disabling the "Cache local objects" bug. It
worked for me.

In my AUTOEXEC.BAT I have the following two lines included:

SET TEMP=C:\ARACHNE\TEMP\ARACHNE.TMP
IF NOT DIREXIST %TEMP% MD %TEMP%

>From what I can follow by examining the config files from this new
Arachne release, Michael intended for C:\ARACHNE\TEMP\ARACHNE.TMP to
be the default directory for those installing Arachne to run on the
hard drive. In previous versions the TEMP directory was normally
C:\ARACHNE\TEMP for those selecting the hard disk installation option.
I have no idea why he wanted to change the directory structure and
the name of the temporary directory. I tried setting my TEMP directory
to C:\ARACHNE\TEMP also. That wouldn't work either if I had the "Cache
local objects" bug enabled. I have had this problem on two different
machines on which I have installed the new Arachne version. Has anyone
else had problems such as the one I am reporting?
